Investment theme: Life and Death

I came up with this idea of having investment themes and the companies when a headhunter sent me a JD weeks ago before LKY passed away so this was not inspired by him in any way. He has lived a fine life and his legacy is unparalleled. I have the utmost respect for him. In fact, his death makes me think of my life and whether I've been living my life to the fullest. I've been busy lately as FA lags behind TA given that even if I uncover a gem, it may not be the right time to mine the gem. Thus I'm like doing FA every damn day while waiting for an appropriate time to buy and then sell. After so much reading, thinking, analyzing and what not, I'm pooped up to blog but here goes since this post is long overdue. I decided to take a look at stocks that cater to Life and Death and uncovered these two gems in the ASX. Currently AUD/SGD is low and could get lower. I don't know as I'm not a FX expert but I would rather not have to contend with FX swings. The only

So you want to be the next Warren Buffet? How's your writing?

I read this 6 pages long article  thanks to a reader (temperament) who told me about it when I wrote my last post on  Talent . I think it's an excellent read and while it answers a few questions of my own, it also made me have more questions. Especially the part when it is all set in stone by the time you turn 12. I love watching shows that showcase talented people such as The Voice, Asia's got Talent etc etc. Whenever I watched such shows, I always feel very humbled as well as wonder out loud where the heck is my talent!!! ACCICB tells me that I'm multi talented but still I doubt and wonder and wish. But as with all talent in the world, it comes to nothing if it's not coupled with hard work, persistence and determination to make your dream come true. I think that it's the same when it comes to investing, we may not be born talented investors but with hard work, persistence and determination to become financially independent, one day, we will achieve that goal.  As  Money Honey  says, let's all Shine or Go Crazy! The importance of having a good buddy

ACCICB and I can have the most awful fights, no holds barred kind where we just unleash the kind of things you would say to your best pal. Which in a way he is or rather has become for many years. Sadly he still doesn't get makeup but I'm better at football now! When dealing with your best pal whom you see everyday, you tend to think of whether you should be more tactful but seriously that does not get things done. In one of those epic fights that was in the early days of his switch from investor to trader which was marred by a seriously naughty Mr Market, he had lost confidence in himself. I had to use all sorts of methods to get his old self back. From the usual comforting, cajoling, scolding, mocking, you name it, I've probably done it. The last thing I said probably meant something which was 'Nobody can help you get your confidence back. It's down to you.'  The next day, he got back into the game and made his first trade after two months. Thankfully
